Teen Aspiring for Olympics Fatally Stabbed Defending Sister (Baltimore Sun)

Police said the 17-year-old who was fatally stabbed early Sunday morning in Northwest Baltimore was intervening in a dispute between his sister and a man. The victim was identified as Ronald T. Gibbs, a boxer who reached the semifinals in the 2010 National PAL Championship in San Antonio and had Olympic aspirations. Marvin McDowell, president of the state’s amateur boxing association, said Gibbs, known as “Rock,” was at one point ranked in the top 10 in the country. He trained at the Upton Boxing Center on Pennsylvania Avenue.
